Hey guys,Hoping to pick your brains on this one. I've been doing some maintenance work for a scrap yard and I've been asked to look at the hydraulics on the fork lift. The problem I've been asked to address is the tank intermittently overflows when warming up the forklift. This usually only occurs when it is cold, so I doubt I'll be able to see it occur until next fall.Tomorrow, I get to pull the counterweight on another lift so we can replace the radiator !!!!!
Reply:Get more details.Exactly what is happening dirung the warmup process? Are the hydraulics being cycled? What is the tank level? Is there water emulsified in the oil?Appreciation Gains You Recognition-
Reply:Thanks Franz,I'll try to get more info from them. Only other thing I can think of right now is they said the hydraulics are "slow" until it warms up.
Reply:I have the same problem, slow as hell till I warm up.God made stupid people just so service tecks can drive bigger trucks and carry more parts. If they would just tell you the facts you could run out in a golf cart and fix the damn thing.Slow till it warms up could be either the wrong oil, a plugged up oil filter, or most fun of all, a mix of different types of ATF in the hydraulics. Now, if you really want to make money, take a sample of the oil, and tell the customer you'll have it analized, and a week later, change the system oil and filter.Appreciation Gains You Recognition-
