Any one use zinc sheet? A client wants me to form zinc counter tops for his new kitchen. I've never worked with zinc but all the info I've found is discouraging. Also cna any one suggest a supplier. I've found a few but it seems all zinc sheet is offered in a max width of 44" and comes rolled length wise.Miller TrailBlazer 251Miller HF-250-1Miller MaxStar 150 STLHyperTherm PowerMax 380 plasmaLincoln PowerMig 180Millermatic 252Miller Diversion 180
Reply:A zinc sheet... Try electroplated galvanized sheets. You might have better luck finding that.John 3:16(2) Miller Pheonix 456(2) Millermertic 252Dynasty 210DXHobart 210MVPDoringer D350 SA Cold SawScotchman 350LT Cold SawWebb 10x50 MillWebb 15x40 LatheGeka Bendicrop Ironworker

Reply:Roto metals is the place to go for material. You can get the material shipped flat. Skid charge will apply. They will also cut the metal longer than twelve feet if you need it, however 44" seems to be the norm for the maximum width. Welding the sheets together can be tricky. Their how to videos are lame if you want a quality looking top. If you use a hammer to bend the metal, it will look like you used a hammer to bend the metal. I am a newbie to zinc and I am here to get answers as well. I have done a few tops with success for a hamburger restaurant, but it came with a learning curve.
Reply:Thanks for the info..I'll form the metal with a brake but understand the zinc is soft and needs to be coated with pvc or masked to prevent tooling marks. Anyone know why it is available to 44" wide only? About welding..It has to be soldered..??right?Miller TrailBlazer 251Miller HF-250-1Miller MaxStar 150 STLHyperTherm PowerMax 380 plasmaLincoln PowerMig 180Millermatic 252Miller Diversion 180 |
