I read all I could here and other sites about the best Plasma Cutter to buy. Many cases the suggestion was to go the local boyz and testdrivea few pieces. Unfortunately the locals around here are notreally friendly so I have to ask someone here whohad / has some cutter. I need one that does 1/4"the quality of the cut is the most important to me.Big debate about the brands. No one complained about Miller or Thermal Dynamics. The Blue had beengood to me sofar in other areas. I know power is good but probably I could cut finer (narrow kerf) with the proper machine. Sheet metal mostly what I would work with. Thanks
Reply:I've got a Miller spectrum 375. There are times I wish it was bigger, but it's super within its range. Do a search on plasma cutters. there's a lot of information here.Get a good air filter, like a "Motor Guard", moisture is death on consumables.
Reply:I have a Hypertherm 900 and really like it. Hypertherm also makes a fine cut consumable kit now.Miller, Hypertherm or Thermal Dynamics all make good units. Get one bigger than you think you will need and a good filter on the air supply
Reply:migstaI have a Spectrum 625 and it seems to work good, although I haven't tried a lot of others. This weekend I just cut a 1" plate with it for my wood splitter. It was turned up to max and I had to go real slow but it was able to cut it. 1/2" and down it cuts it like butter, and like fla jim says you always wish it was bigger!Cowboy
Reply:The Spectrum 375 will cut what you need. That said, if you can afford it, go with the Spectrum 625 to put your projects well inside the powerband, so to speak. My Spectrum 375 is on the block so I can upgrade to the 2050.
Reply:Thanks guys. Like I say the Blue has been good to mesofar. I guess the 625 that is........ |
