I am looking to buy a new welder for my shop at home. I have 100 amp subpanel in my shop 240V.I use a Miller deltaweld with a 60 series wire feeder at work. But 3 phase isn't an option. I been save some money, the budget max is $2000.I think I might get up to 1/2 or 3/4 inch plate at times.Looking for any suggestions. I dont know much about single phase machine and I dont trust the local sales rep. Thanks,

Reply:Hey cheeseheadwelder,Aaron has an excellent suggestion. At the present time I am pondering trading in my MM210 for the MM251. Right now the 210 is borderline for my applications (a lot of 1/2" plate with 6" or less bead lengths). These are not critical welds, and the 210 has not had any duty cycle related problems yet, but I feel I am pushing the envelope. Here is an idea, get yourself the MM251 and keep it stored in my garage down here in Beloit. That way you will have more room in your shop......ha ha. Seriously though, about a year ago when I got the 210 I felt it was more than enough machine for my purpose, but it seems like the bigger I go, the more I want to do and it is a never ending vicious power cycle. Good luck with your decision.
