Playing with finishes

Hi all,seems like I am always looking for good finish ideas.  Here is a little piece of 18g scrap.  I took one end, and used some copper Insta-rust, the lighter end is where I heated the steel to a red glow, then brushed it with a brass bristle brush.  I clear-coated it to see how it holds up before I do it on a project.  I like both finishes, but the heat & brass finish would be a lot of work for a large project. Reply:Here are a couple I've used. The beak is the heat & brass brush, neck is simply polished and the body is a cold gun blue.If you don't want to stand behind our Troops, feel free to stand in front of them.

Reply:The eagle got 2 coats and is quite a bit darker than the truck that only got 1. It does leave a nice finish and doesn't hide the metal.If you don't want to stand behind our Troops, feel free to stand in front of them.
