Just wondering what your using for a table? I am a using a 4'x4' table that has been morphing over the years. It is currently made of wood with the exception  of a 1/4" 4'x4' plate on the top. Once I have a design I am pleased with I will go buy the material to have it all steel. Anyone have pics? I am interested in some ideas. here is my table:I have locking good quality casters on each corner. 10ga 15' extension cord wired to a duplex box under the top. 12 plug power bar on the side with a bar to hold my grinder(s)8"x1" flat bar welded to the edge of the top for my ground clap Attached Images
Reply:Here's a pic of mine - I've since removed the sides. Made from 1.5" tube and 22ga sheet. The spider web doors are 1/2" tube and 1/4" round Attached ImagesFire!, Fire! Oh wait, that's my torch...Lincoln PT-225 TIGLincoln 175 MIG

Reply:is wood good for a welding table? jus my 2 cents worth looks great g
Reply:Obviously, there will always be a potential FIRE hazard  from the wood . At least be always concious of that fact, at ALL times. Try not to put too much heat into that top plate.[SIZE="5"Yardbird"
Reply:Well I dont cut on the top so it never gets hot. When Obviously the wood is a concern but what do you guys do to your top to get it hot enough to burn the wood? I rarely tack anything to the top."I'm really easy to get along with once you people learn to see it my way.""I'll try being nicer if you'll try being smarter."
Reply:This one is still my favorite, the top is blanchard ground 1" plate, very flat.2x4 square tube for the legs. The top weighed about 1000 lbs. maybe overkill but this table will be around forever

Reply:Catching the wood on fire was something I thought of too when I saw the pics.   Definitely want to re-make that out of steel instead.   Yes, it will get hot.   I got my rotating jig hot enough to warp the 1" plate the other day.   If there had been wood under, it probly would have started smoldering.MM350P/Python/Q300MM175/Q300DialarcHFHTP MIG200PowCon300SMHypertherm380ThermalArc185Purox oaF350CrewCab4x4LoadNGo utilitybedBobcat250XMT304/Optima/SpoolmaticSuitcase12RC/Q300Suitcase8RC/Q400Passport/Q300Smith op

Reply:nice table SWells. i would never get any thing done with that TV
Reply:I like Swells table and shop, I bet it gets a lot of use with the winters being longer and colder up there.
Reply:Alfred, the TV's not the only distraction. Inside the black cabinet is the stereo and an old notebook with wireless internet, I have everything running through the stereo (PC, TV, CD, Radio).MrRodeoCC, that's where you will find me most Friday nites.....and Saturday if the "honey do" list isn't too long.If you don't want to stand behind our Troops, feel free to stand in front of them.
Reply:the stereo i can work with and the notebook with internet is nice to have. Wow i would never leave if that was my shop but it is nice
Reply:Mine's a 3/4" 4x4' top with scrap pipe legs and surplus locking casters. It weighs about 600 lbs but moves around without too much trouble. Top is mounted on rubber pads to absorb some of the "ring" when you pound on it with a hammer.JimCut an MGB and widened 11" C4 Corvette suspension and LT1 Chevrolet power & 6 spd. Reply:How tall is your table Jim?"I'm really easy to get along with once you people learn to see it my way.""I'll try being nicer if you'll try being smarter."
Reply:Here's the one I built.  Wanted something multi-functional so I added a chute (and catch can) to catch the cutting sparks.Have since added a hitch type receiver to mount additional accessories including my NoMar tire changer setup. If I had to do it over again, I'd use the 2x2 tube as one of the top supports instead of as a welded on addition.

Reply:I had a buddy that worked at the post office mail sorting plant, that's the box the post office drops the daily bundles for the route carriers. This one was taken out of commision for some reason. Better yet, I got it for free. I've since installed the notebook on a keyboard slide out tray......right about where the scotch bottle and cigars are.If you don't want to stand behind our Troops, feel free to stand in front of them.
Reply:sweet deal and nice use of a toss away.

Reply:To quote a famous movie, "Gump you are a #%@#*%*@ genius!"  Seriously, that thing is awesome.  I may need to copy that.  My "shop" is the garage, where the wife has this weird idea about parking her car when I am not working.  Check out my channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkz...bZg8AYNXGqBjZQ"Both oligarch and tyrant mistrust the people, and therefore deprive them of arms." - Aristotle
