Reply:I've used a lot of different ones, and they all seem more affected by what I'm whizzing off than anything. grease, paint, varnish clog them up.  I love the fiinish I get on metal with them-its almost like chrome!   I then just clear coat it.  The ones I bought on eBay (10 for $20.00, or something like that) are as good as the others.  I also have had good results with Black & Decker from Wal Mart.  The 4 1/2" ones are a LOT better than the 4" ones.  I use them for a lot of operations I used to use a grinder on-like prepping joints to weld.  Gets 'em clean quick, and its easier to control how much metal I remove-especially important on sheet metal. At the Lake
Reply:Nortons good. If nothing else check your local Ace hardware. Some have them some don't. I don't buy any cutting wheels, grinding wheels, wire wheels, stones or anything that is going to be run at high rpm or extreme duty from Harbor Freight. HF grinding wheels disappear in a flash, wire wheels fly apart into a million daggers and the job doesn't get done.It also seems like no-ones real coarse grit flap discks holds up. Just too heavy to get to stick I guess. About 60 is as coarse as I go in the flap. 60's and 80's is all I get for raw iron."The things that will destroy America are prosperity at any price, peace at any price, safety first instead of duty first, the love of soft living and the get rich quick theory of life." -Theodore Roosevelt
Reply:I prefer the Walter brand discs with the orange plastic backing.  You can trim the plastic off the back to keep the edge flexible.  The idea is to rest the spinning disc back against the sharp corner of a bench.  The soft plastic can be cut away.
Reply:Lotech, got an online store link??StangnetShop Full Of Stuff. Joey

Reply:I've always had good luck with the 4.5" Black & Decker flap disks I get from Wal-Mart.  They seem to be just as good as the DeWalts, but a lot cheaper.  Haven't used too many other brands though.  May need to pay my local Ace Hardware a visit.
Reply:^^ i have a b&d disc on mine now, i wish they sold them in a bulk pack thoughStangnetShop Full Of Stuff. Joey
