Got a small Mig Welder - Extending Cables/Torch?

Hi all,Just got myself a small Mig Welder off a friend after doing some favours for him. Its only a small unit, Italian Made Uni-Mig Mini Mig 120. It is exactly like these ones I found pictures of, too dark right now to take any of the actual machine.Perfect size and price (especially) for what I want to do around the house. Came with a few spare nozzles, tips, gasless wire and also a regulator.The only thing I really dont like about the machine is its very short cable. The one in the picture looks like it has a much longer earth and about the same size torch as mine. The torch is around 1.5m long and the earth about 1m long on mine, way to short unless its mounted right at the bench and bench work only.Can I install a longer torch like this one ( http://www.bobthewelder.com.au/produ...productid=1738 ) 2.4m direct connect and a same length Earth to this welder? Will it reduce my power by any?I understand that 110amp max power is kind of limiting on larger stuff, but im mainly looking to do smaller sheetmetal work with this one. My Stick welder can handle anything thicker then that.Cheers,John Attached Images
Reply:Your mig does not have the grunt to handle longer cables. Reply:You can extend the work lead longer without trouble, just use decent size welding cable.  Reading the manual, it suggests that the reason the mig gun is so short is for use welding aluminum. You should be able to use at least a 10' mig gun on it without trouble, I wouldn't go longer.
