Has anyone ever used one of these saws; Milwaukee 6190-80 14-in Dry-Cut Machine? I found a reconditioned one for $317 at http://www.reconditionedtools.com and would like some advice. Thanks. Attached Images
Reply:I've got the Northern tool carbide tip saw. Loud but super clean, one day kids will ask what those 12" abrasive disks where for. Get one.
Reply:I have the Milwaukee 14" dry cut saw. I really like mine. The original Milwaukee blade lasted through over 1000 cuts in 1/8 steel tubing. I got a Freud Blade and it was gone in under 200 cuts. Dont waste time and money on cheap blades. Even if they are name brand.Making as much progress as a one legged duck in the middle of a pond, just going in circles.
Reply:Thanks guys...on order....
Reply:You really can't go wrong with Milwaukee anything...great quality tools!!!...that's a nice machine...one day ill get one...make sure u wear safety glasses tho!!!!
Reply:A search for "Dry Cut" will bring up a lot of information on these saws. You will be very happy with the saw if you read the manual about how to cut different shapes. It's important. Failure to follow this will reduce the blade life. Reply:I have one in my classroom and really like it.  One thing we found out the hard way is make sure the clamp it TIGHT!  We had a piece of angle iron go flying along with about 10 teeth.  Pretty scarry, luckily no injuries.
Reply:Glad no one was hurt...refur to TIGger's post;...make sure u wear safety glasses tho!!!!
Reply:I purchased an Evolution dry cut and it does everything I ask it to, but I do not care for the fence. Seems like they could have engineered the fence for a quick release when cutting different sizes rather than all that cranking on the thread.GeezerPower Mig 255C185 TIGBlue 175 MIGRanger 8 Kohler 20HP1974 5K Lincoln/Wisconsin Powered (Cherry)Victor/Harris O/AK 487 Spool Gun

Reply:I got my dad the one you are looking at for xmas couple years ago. It has an awesome vice. It cuts great just be careful and mindful with this saw. Good choice!Nothing Ever Got Done By Quitting, Never Give Up.

Reply:When you use these saws you have to let them cut at there own pace don't force them it will throw teeth off the blade that way If it is not held tight you get bad cuts and always start at a corner never on the flat it will waste your blades teeth and no i don't like there clamping set up eitherGo to harbor freight and get a circular saw sharpener keep the blades touched up it's cheaper than having them done all the time those teeth are just silver soldered onto the bladeI've had mine for about 3 years now and i have cut a bunch of square tubing both .120 wall and .250 wall and did a lot of woodwork with itThe Rage 3 is very versatile and i have it on a porter cable roller stand that folds so i take it to jobs where i have to fab stuff on siteBacked my CATMA over your CARMA oops clusmy me  What would SATAN do ?? Reply:Originally Posted by NoBigDeal Fabso it seems like nothing was discovered. I have used a bunch of blades, and found that the dewalt, seem to be the best. (although i never ran a Milwaukee) but we have been going back to the dewalts, and have good luck. but unfortunately, i usually end up needing to cut something the way they say not to use the blade (on a flat side or through a long edge) so I have a tendency to buy some cheaper blades just for that reason. my next good blade will be milwaukee, just to give it a shot. it may be better than the dewalt. we will see.
Reply:So aside from blades. What are the advantages and disadvantages when comparing Milwaukee to the evolution? And when you say don't cut in the flat are you suppose to turn square tube onto its edge so you cut into a corner first? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Reply:I always cut my tubing sitting flat in the clamp. I cant remark on the evolution saw. I have never used one.Making as much progress as a one legged duck in the middle of a pond, just going in circles.I use Morse Metal Devil blades and they hold up really well as long as I am clamping things properly. cut off a bracket that caught on the blade a couple of days ago and took off a couple of teeth but still cuts ok. I get 3 to 6 months out of a blade and I use it almost every day   Also I cut on the flats of steel all the time and it cuts fine and leaves a smother edge than if you turn it on its sideMiller 180,Esab 300I TIG Lincoln Stick [1950's} Victor Torches, Dewalt chop saw, Enco 9x48 Mill,  48x60 home shop with Gantry crane and Pit.
Reply:We love ours. Omly way to go. Check around because we were buying new blades and we found a local guy that can sharpen them. They cut better then when they were new. It only cost 30 bucks to sharpen and 1 dollar a piece for teeth if the teeth need to be replaced. We don't buy new blades any more. Saved a ton of money.Yes I can tack it for you.    I know that won't hold but that is what you asked me to do.  Millermatic 350P XR Aluma-Pro push/pullMillermatic 185/spool gunMiller Dialarc 250 HF Water cooledThermal Dynamics Plasma

Reply:Originally Posted by NoBigDeal Fabyeah angle is supposed to be cut with the 90 degree angle facing up. a chunk of 3 X .250 flat stock should be cut with the .250 side facing up. not laying flat. things of that nature. I did see in the dewalt directions where they said to cut square tube in a diamond shape but i cant figure how you would hold it there.

Reply:It's amazing isn't it. Today I cut some 7/8 round bar, and wanted to start with a nice cut, as the steel yard cut it with a band saw. So I shaved off a small piece. And it was a perfect circle 7/8 diameter and .03 thick. Try that with an abrasive saw......Offering CNC Plasma cutting and welding projects.Follow me on facebook https://www.facebook.com/nobigdeal.fabSupport those that support WW.

Reply:Originally Posted by Canoe2fishNo, you position your vice's back stop forward enough so that the blade does not start on the flat of the tubing. The blade should contact the rear corner of the tubing, effectively cutting the back as well as the top in its descending arc.
Reply:Guys, by al means keep schooling me. I watch this thread like its my last one. I want to learn as much as i can going into this new tool addition. Thanks again.
Reply:I have been having great luch with the steelmax blades lately in both the 14 inch chop saw and the 7in circular saw - that thing has been a life saver lately.   I have put a couple steel floors in trailers recently, which means ripping sheets of plate lengthwise. The circular saw will cut faster than my plasma, leave a cleaner edge, and setting it up consists of plugging it in.When any government, or any church for that matter, undertakes to say to its subjects, "This you may not read, this you must not see, this you are forbidden to know," the end result is tyranny and oppression, no matter how holy the motives.
Reply:Put the saw to use today cutting some 1/4 strap. Cut like it was butter, great buy. Thanks to all.
Reply:I was looking at a catalog and found a 12" blade that will fit in my Dewalt chop saw. I was worried about the speed but when I checked, it is the same rpm as My Porter Cable. I like how the chop saw cuts and angles but it definatly will need some sort of a clamp. Has any one tried this?Miller 180,Esab 300I TIG Lincoln Stick [1950's} Victor Torches, Dewalt chop saw, Enco 9x48 Mill,  48x60 home shop with Gantry crane and Pit.

Reply:I picked up a rage 3 earlier today NIB on Craigslist for $160. It took me an hour to cut 12 gussets out of some 1.5" 12 gauge square and weld them all up. At this rate, it will pay for itself by the end of the week!It is cutting a tiny bit jagged, I will pick up some 3/8 or 1/2" flat bar tomorrow and make some cuts to try and set the blade. Even if it cuts like this forever it still runs circles around my bandsaw.

Reply:I just received my Makita dry cut saw from the man in brown today. I will hopefully be putting it to use by the end of the week. I was reading through the book tonight and it says to not cut aluminum with it, also says to not sharpen the blade which I have already read that most people are doing. Just wandering if the aluminum thing is true or false? Thanks for all the info in this thread, it was the extra push I needed to order one up.
Reply:I have this Trajan 1319 DR Dual Miter Metal Cutting Band Saw . It provides fast precise cutting because of its strong gear box .It includes a chip brush blade cleaner to clean the chips on the blade and to extend the band saw blade life . It could be for dry cutting or wet cutting cause there's a coolant pump system on it . Just saying .
Reply:ssyork, if i have a small amount of aluminum to cut i go ahead and use it.  Otherwise i ordered a separate blade made for nonferrous metal.  No it can't be sharpened, but it takes months to wear a blade out. The reason I don't sharpen it is there are usually chipped teeth.  I have used it for three or four years and am ready to put on my third blade. My bandsaw is collecting dust unless I have a very large piece to cut. I also keep an abrasive saw around incase I need to cut hardened or junky (rebar) type steel.  Usually teeth are chipped because of abuse, not wear.
