I have had a oxy-propane torch for many years and am very happy with it. This was converted from accetylene and I still have the old heating and welding tips which were for accetylene but have never used them with propane because I was led to believe they would not work with propane. I just used the cutting torch for both cutting and heating which works fine. The question is, does anyone know for sure if the old accetylene welding and heating tips will work with propane? I think you can't braze with propane but maybe I could use it for heating. There has been a few times I would have liked to try them. Has anyone tried this? Thank you in advance for your responces.Welder- Miller Thunderbolt AC 225-DC 150 Plasma cutter, Miller Spectrum 300O/P torch- Victor 100
Reply:I think you should be fine with doing this. Ace. gas differs from prop. in that it burns hotter (but not as clean), I worked in a shop where I used Ace. and the guy next to me favored Prop. we both used the same type of torch. The regulators are diffrent by the way, Due to the properties of the gas. I'd give them a try. I had a rosebud tip that I tried to light up one time and all it did was snap. It was for propane and I had Ace.Last edited by Loki; 04-05-2005 at 09:17 AM.Lincoln 100HD non gas MIGO/A cutting, brazing, soldering, forming

Reply:You can use the same regulators. Propane by rights uses a different hose and the tips are designed differently. Propane has slots to allow for more/better preheating. Here in the Great White NorthMosquitoes can't fly at 40 below
