Reply:From the looks of it the top pivot point broke first and stressed out those already weak rewelded cracks on the bottom. If they were doing a walk around of their equipment they would have cought it before it got that bad. Will Supports Autism Awareness My ToysBobCat 225 PLusMillermatic 130Miller Spectrum 300 CutmateEverlast Power Tig 185 Micro April is Autism Month .

You'll just need a CC machine preferably putting out more than 300 amps. 400 is most often standard, but less will work with smaller electrodes like 3/16". Standard shop air around 90 PSI @ 12+ CFM will do fine. You can pick them up on ePay cheap if you keep an eye out. Theyre a very useful tool to own. It woud allow you to gouge out a V groove in the crack & burn the gussets out with ease. Then, just use a ratchet binder with some chain to pull the frame back into position & go to town. Fish plate it afterward & it'll prolly hold up well. Dunno of that's treated steel, may want to consult the manufacturer if it's a factor or not.I HATE plow work!!!!Good luck from Lansing!!

Reply:They taught me to carbon arc gouge at school with a miller dialarc 250. Dont remember the amperage but we had it turned up high. It worked good tho.
Reply:I dont remember the exact size of the electrodes but they were bigger than an 1/8 in rod. More like 5/32 or 1/4.. I ran that miller for four hours cutting 30 welds (that was the assignment) only taking breaks to go get another welded piece out of the scrap pile. It seemed to hold up fine. Never shut off on me. Only have one days experience with cac but I can tell you this, its better to push than drag and you better wear some ear plugs!!!!

Reply:Yeah we have a few power lines down around hear. Make sure you have your thermos on because the bottom is about to fall out on the thermometerWill Supports Autism Awareness My ToysBobCat 225 PLusMillermatic 130Miller Spectrum 300 CutmateEverlast Power Tig 185 Micro April is Autism Month .
Reply:We haven't been running the plows this year but water main breaks have been off the hook. It seems like we have been getting one a day. Will Supports Autism Awareness My ToysBobCat 225 PLusMillermatic 130Miller Spectrum 300 CutmateEverlast Power Tig 185 Micro April is Autism Month .
Reply:The lake effect area snow total for the year is 9"Gonna be cold for a couple of days and then back to mid 20s for mill moving day(weds).

Got a couple customers that plow & it's just been killing them the last two seasons. Best they're really getting right now is salting contracts (which is where plow guys make their real money anyways) but that's about it.You won't hear a word of complaint from me

Reply:Now usually don't get to work with anything that thick but my gut says to take it apart somewhat, flame cut the remaining bit and grind out all the ugly stressed/cracked metal, V both sides and get a fresh box of 7018 and go to town, wirebrushing between passes. Build it up and grind it off so it makes a smooth stress riser free finish. Maybe an additional gusset? |
