Alright it's getting warm out, I'm fat and I sweat like a hooker on the front pew in church. What kind of gadgets and such have you guys came up with for helping keep ya cool while under the hood. I've got the idea of using a fan out of a computer and hooking it up to two 9volt batteries, not the best at soldering so that project is on hold for the time bein hopin I can find something that don't involve soldering. Post up pics if ya have them.93 Bobcat 225GMillerMatic 135HF Tig 91811

Reply:Holy crap, that system cost half as much as my helmet did. Think I'm gonna hit up radio shack an get the rest of the parts that I need for my PC fan creation cause it's gettin' hot.93 Bobcat 225GMillerMatic 135HF Tig 91811

Reply:Just make sure the fan blows downward, it would be unfortunate if it was drawing air from underneath and sucking in weld fumes (if you dont wear a mask)

Reply:I turn the AC on.
Reply:http://tabcbelts.homestead.com/Actio...cPRODUCTS.html$40 and it's premade. of course, the fan and battery box probably only cost $8 max, so if 30 minutes of your time is worth $32 than go for it, other wise chepaer to make it.
Reply:If it gets bad enough I was thinking about dragging the portabe A/C unit (not a window unit) out side and sitting it behind me.Or useing a box fan.As long as I am not GMAWing.Or my favorite,  night welding. Reply:My shop is a metal oven, I mean building.  There are 2 sides to the shop, woodworking side and metal working side.  We have insulated the shop but it only helps a little.  I have a thermometers on both sides and on my side and it gets about 110+ degrees between 2 pm -5 pm.  I have a window ac unit, several fans, and a window and large exhaust fan right above my welding table.  Can't run the ac and exhaust fan so I have to pick my battle. Fans seem to just blow the hot air around.  How about those reusable ice packs?   I've got one for my back that has holder with velcro straps for holding to your body.  I will try it and let you know.Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

Reply:If it's a metal roof get some kool seal paint it on and feel the difference
Reply:Have you got some whirlybirds on the roof?
Reply:Can't do whirly birds.  Roof is pretty flat, maybe a degree or 2 pitch.  Water stands and we've spent a fair amount patching leaks and sealing it.  I've thought of exhaust fans up high on walls but this is a temporary shop.  Been there a couple years but already outgrowing it.  It's cheap and walking distance from my house so works great for now.  I just figure I take a break from 3 to 6 everyday.  Started working nights too.Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
Reply:Wet your hair down, throw a wet rag/ towel on the back of your neck. take your boots off at coffee time (outside in the shade someplace where the odor wont bother anyone). Change your socks once  during the shift works wonders, if anything you will be refreshed afterwards.Nothing Ever Got Done By Quitting, Never Give Up.

Reply:I made this with a $5 computer fan and camera battery about $12. Battery is 7.4v so it runs the fan a little slow, but boy does the constant breeze feel good and makes welding a lot more fun. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-fan-blo...item1c3798c105is a cheaper solution too
