Just finished this trailer, the door was being held on with one hing the other three were completely torn off. I can't believe that these hings/door were mounted to a section of 16 gauge sheet metal to begin with. I cut out the sheet metal between the frame rails and installed a section of 6'' C channel flush mounted and welded to the frame and to the original 16 g around the outside to make it look like one piece...then made some new hings out of 3/4 tubing and 5/'8 solid stock for the pins ... mostly welded with 3/32 7018... pic #4 shows the original hinge comparison and goober welds Attached ImagesLast edited by DemonSpeeder; 01-26-2013 at 05:44 PM.Lincoln pro mig 180Lincoln Square Wave Tig 300/wp 20/home built water cooler Victor, Purox, Harris, O/A welding/cutting setupsVintage Craftsman drill pressVintage Craftsman/Atlas 12"x 36'' lathe7''x 12'' w/c band saw Everlast 140 st

Reply:i thought i owned the patent for those home made pipe hinges. that was an excellent repair. you could probably use that for a drive up ramp for hauling a car if the trailer was larger?i.u.o.e. # 15queens, ny and sunny fla
Reply:Thank you....Lol,yeah I had fun time finding some tube and a section of solid that would work... otherwise I would have had to turn some pins in my lathe and I didn't want to do all that... the original hinges were rusted solid, i spent about 10 min trying break one lose...and said F that... I bet these will hold up a car, I would attach them to the door better though but these will def do the job they are intended for ..Lincoln pro mig 180Lincoln Square Wave Tig 300/wp 20/home built water cooler Victor, Purox, Harris, O/A welding/cutting setupsVintage Craftsman drill pressVintage Craftsman/Atlas 12"x 36'' lathe7''x 12'' w/c band saw Everlast 140 st
