Hi All,I recently picked up a an older standing drillpress, but I'm not sure where to buy T-nuts for the table. The bottom of the slot is 1" wide, with a height of ~0.25". It's a Taiwanese copy of something big and heavy, marked 'Orbit 0R-250IF' if that means anything. Thanks!-David

Reply:MSC, and ENCO are also good places to purchase alot of your machine tool parts. I order almost all of my tooling from those two. ~JacksonI'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......
Reply:Thanks for all the links guys! I did a bit more research and it turns out that this is an older Jet machine. Not that that helps much, since Jet doesn't carry the nuts. Neither do Grainger/MSC/etc. Looks like I'll have to either fab my own or grind a taller one down to size.
Reply:I just use quality threaded rod the correct diameter and flat bar. In your case 1/4 by 1 inch flat bar drilled every inch and a half for threading and then cut into pieces. I thread the rod in and weld the underside. They are cheap to make and you can have a variety of lengths for the threaded rod.
Reply:That's an interesting idea lotech. I was thinking of something like that, only with brazed half-nuts instead of the threaded rod. Since I'd already picked up a set of t-nuts (too tall) from Grainger, I decided to grind the nuts down on Saturday, worked out pretty well.I also discovered most of the t-slots on the table hadn't been machined after casting. I must have spent 2 hours grinding the edges out with my dremel. Anyway, here's a snap of my new 'benchtop' press. Thanks again for the help!-David Attached Images |
