I just got an old Wilton from a family member and the jaws were stuck shut so I used penetration oil and WD 40 to loosen them up and it worked. Now I noticed that when I loosen the lead screw it doesn't work and I have to manually pull the jaws apart, it's not hard but it's a hassle... It'll work for tightening the jaws but not loosening. Any ideas of what I need to do? I haven't ever worked on the inside of a vise before so i'm not familiar with the internal workings. I can post pictures if needed."Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people's Liberty, Teeth, and Keystone under Independence." - George Washington
Reply:Pull it all apart and clean it. See if there is a worn or missing washer or spacer that should be on the screw. - MondoMember, AWSLincoln ProMIG 140Lincoln AC TombstoneCraftsman Lathe 12 x 24 c1935Atlas MFC Horizontal MillCraftsman Commercial Lathe 12 x 36 c1970- - - I'll just keep on keepin' on.
