My truck rack costs me about 1 MPG to carry it on my truck. And since I don't use it on a regular basis I don't want to haul it around if I don't need it. I needed a way to move my truck rack after taking it off my truck. I have a set of A-frames to load/unload it, but can't leave it there after taking it off, the space is also used for parking, and also is the entrance to the double doors on my shop. So I came up with a way to temporarily attach some wheels to move it to a better storage area out of the way.So this is what I came up with. I used 2 pieces of 2.5 x 2.5 x 1/4" & 2, 2 x 2 x 1/4" angle iron 5" long and 2 pieces of 5/8" rod for the axle. They just slip onto the angle iron of the rack bed rail pieces and I can roll it around like a wheel barrow. I clamped the 2.5" & 2" angle to another 1/4" piece of angle to set the distance between while also clamping the 5/8" rod on the other end. I then welded on each side of the rod to the angle iron, both pieces. Now when I remove the rack I can slip these onto the bed rail pieces(at the balance point)and move it, or bring it back to the A-frames to put it back on the truck. It's a tight enough slip fit it doesn't need set screws or any method to secure it to the rack for no more than I need to move it. I think some of you folk might be able to use this idea for the same reason I needed it. My rack is too heavy to easily move by myself, and is a chore still for 2 to move. Attached Images
Reply:That is one clever wheel mount design. Super simple yet very effective. Good job!

Now we have some "well meaning politician" who wants to make it mandatory that you must have a doctor's prescription to buy cigarettes!! Basterds need to mind their own business!Anyways, where was I going.....oh yea, "breast reduction".......heheLincoln SA 200Esab Caddy 160Thermal Arc 201TSMiller Dialarc HFI don't like making plans for the day because then the word "premeditated" gets thrown around the courtroom....
