I am thinking 4 by 8 ft sheets but I could be wrong.Large bottle of 75/25 mix2" square approx. 80 ft total1" square approx 50 ftRound stock in 1/4" and 3/8" about 20 ft ea.Angle stock Being new to the trade I do not know the proper terms of everything. I plan on building a table, and a couple of other small shelves for my shop.Any help on a good source for the above would be greatly appreciated.Lincoln Pro Mig 140 Bought new for 280

Reply:I may be too far away, but if you consider some oversea suppliers like in China. I may help you out. Aluminum Extrusion and Fabrication
Reply:My new stuff, I usually buy at Ray Albright, at SW 15th and May.  Standard Iron, at Reno and Eastern, usually has a lot of good scrap.I have some 3/8" plate I got from Standard Iron; I'd be willing to part with enough for your tabletop for what I have in it.  Drop me a PM if you're interested.

Reply:Or go on over to Thomasnet and search on steel service centers and then drill down to your zip code.  Thomas is the old industrial register catalog that's been around since Moses.EDIT:  "Hobart Handler 140 and growing."My big mistake was putting in a 100A service in the garage with a  30A, 240V outlet.  That was like planting crab grass.Last edited by Oldendum; 02-04-2013 at 10:39 PM."USMCPOP" First-born son: KIA  Iraq 1/26/05Syncrowave 250 w/ Coolmate 3Dialarc 250, Idealarc 250SP-175 +Firepower TIG 160S (gave the TA 161 STL to the son)Lincwelder AC180C (1952)Victor & Smith O/A torchesMiller spot welder

Reply:Quick service steel se 44th and eastern Steel supply just south 1-40 just west of western
Reply:Yep, 15-20 in the shop. Outdoors isn't the best for MIG, you would be better served using fluxcore. Any more that 20-25 on the gas and you run the risk of causing a swirl and actually having little to no shielding gas sticking around the weld puddle...sort of the same reason outdoor welding isn't ideal. Just one of those cases where more isn't necessarily better.Lincoln PrecisionTig 275Miller 251Miller DialArc 250Bridgeport millHossfeld bender & diesLogan shaperJet 14 X 40 latheSouth Bend 9" 'C'Hypertherm 900Ellis 3000 band saw21"Royersford ExcelsiorTwo shops, still too many tools.
Reply:I have used Standard Steel forever.....they will allow you to look throught the dropoff bin for about anything you need, sell by the pound......unless you need it cut, then theres a charge. Good guys, great forming shop as well....they have broke 95% of all the iron that I have built things out of......A young green pipe welder asked an old salt one day...How can I make the weld on the bottom of the pipe look like the top.......The old salt replied....Screw up the top......
Reply:Went to Albright steel today off May blvd. prices seemed okay, and I dig the old guy at the office. He was very friendly and helpful to my ordering sheet metal. Picked up some 2" 14ga tubing, some 5/16 solid round stock, and some 28ga sheets for tinkering.Rained almost all day today, but tomorrow is calling for clearing, so I might be able to get my table built and show off my rookie welding skills. A lot of tools still waiting on delivery, got my new vise today, and a couple of grinders. This is gonna be fun as soon as I get that table going!Lincoln Pro Mig 140 Bought new for 280
Reply:Yeah, Standard is pretty cool.  When I was at their scrapyard a few months ago they were charging $0.30/pound.  Pretty cool place, I've only been welding for a year but I'm totally intrigued by all the stuff up for grabs....  They had a lot of different things: angle, all kinds of huge pieces of plate I'll never be able to move by myself, pipe scraps up to 36" in diameter and all kinds of random junk
Reply:I am moving to OKC and am wondering what it is like for a welder in this area?  I am coming from Idaho and it is easy to get gases and steel here, is it the same in that area?
