Now I have never used an inverter before. Do you guys think it'll run 6010? I've heard they usually have problems running 6010 rods. I wish I had a little bit more money for a AC/DC tig or stick welder but I only have about $400 to spend. http://www.ebay.com/itm/200938605821Hobart Stickmate LX 235 ACEverlast Powerarc 140ST DC InverterPowcon 300ST

Reply:Buy a Lincoln Idealarc AC/DC 250 a real welder.
Reply:About 3 hrs away a guy has Miller Dialarc 250 listed for $450. It's been listed for a while. Im thinking about giving him a call and see whats the least he will take.Hobart Stickmate LX 235 ACEverlast Powerarc 140ST DC InverterPowcon 300ST

Reply:I'd skip that one. For somewhere in the mid-$400 range you can get an ESAB MiniArc 161LTS stick-only version. For about $100 more you can get the stick & tig version. The ESAB 161 will run 6010 rods with no problem. Most inverters will not. It comes as a dual voltage inverter 115/230 VAC.edit: Just checked the Scott Gross ESAB prices...they have jumped a bit. The stick-only version is now $530 and the stick & tig is $600. You are in AR. They have a store in Flippin and one in Springfield, MO (where I bought mine). Call one of the stores and double check the prices. Sometimes they have a promotion on stuff. I bought mine about a year ago, and it was about $450.Last edited by shortfuse; 06-21-2014 at 09:03 PM.

Reply:I think my power supply is strong enough haha. I have a 3 wire 220 in my shed with a 50 amp breaker. My welder is the only thing connected to it.Hobart Stickmate LX 235 ACEverlast Powerarc 140ST DC InverterPowcon 300ST
Reply:Yep that should do it. Dialarcs are very nice machines. Tough as nails and pretty straight forward with a nice arc. Much nicer than many of the smaller "homeowner" ones you buy at a box store.I haven't had the opportunity to try one of the little Esabs. That brand isn't all that common around me for whatever reason. However it looks quite nice and would be on my short list if I was looking to get a small inverter that would run 6010 well..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Can I just pop in a 60amp breaker and be good. And I'll prolly never go over 140-150 amps.Hobart Stickmate LX 235 ACEverlast Powerarc 140ST DC InverterPowcon 300ST

Reply:If you have 220 with a 50 amp breaker grab a Hobart Stickmate AC/DC they will run any rod, there cheap, and they last for a long time.Lincoln pro core 125 14''chop saw7 inch grinder,2-4.5 inch grinders, electric die grinder.Half inch drillAnd alot of hand tools
Reply:I run my Dial-Arc on a 50 amp breaker and never had any issues after I went through and tightened all the 30 to 40 year old terminal screws. I've pushed it on multi stick "continous" welds and 5/32" high current welds.
Reply:Well, I really wanted to get the Dialarc but I've been working 10hrs a day 6 days a week. So I really dont feel like driving 3 hrs away to get it. So I ordered a small Everlast 140 DC tig. The 6010 capability is super important (right now anyway). I just really wanted a tig setup for the house. I've seen Mr. Tig do a review on it and seems very nice for the price. It was $250 plus $25 shipped.Hobart Stickmate LX 235 ACEverlast Powerarc 140ST DC InverterPowcon 300ST

Reply:I finally got out there and tested out my new Everlast 140. The arc is a little harder to get started than on my Hobart Stickmate but man does it have a smooth arc. So smooth I though it was broke haha. I havent tried tig on it yet. I still need some argon and a regulator. And I haven't tried it on 110v yet, only 220. But im so happy with it.Hobart Stickmate LX 235 ACEverlast Powerarc 140ST DC InverterPowcon 300ST

Reply:That's great to hear. Please post as you go along. Definitely a great deal for a machine. Would like to know how well it holds up.
Reply:The 140 does has hot start. But it isn't advertised anywhere that it will do 6010. It won't. Reply:I ran a couple 6010 rods earlier and it didnt do too bad. First I tried it at 100 amps, kinda hard to start. Then I tried 110, it was better. Then I tried 130 and ran pretty good. This weekend I'll try some open root with 6010 and really see how it does.Hobart Stickmate LX 235 ACEverlast Powerarc 140ST DC InverterPowcon 300STAnd I have to point out that my 6010 rods have been setting out on my table for a few months now. They'll prolly run a lot better if they were fresh.Hobart Stickmate LX 235 ACEverlast Powerarc 140ST DC InverterPowcon 300ST |
