Reply:They sell safety glasses with magnifiers already built into them so you don't need to use reading glasses plus goggles if you want to go that route. Most box stores like Depot/Lowes have them with the safety stuff. You can also order prescription safety glasses cut to your exact prescription.I've never had a lot of luck with goggles and glasses. Mine usually fog up too quick. I use them only when I have no choice and am doing something with tons of flying grit like cutting with an abrasive saw overhead. For most jobs where I want extra eye protection, I'll use a face shield instead. Less chance of fogging.I don't need readers yet, but I am near sighted, so I need to wear glasses full time. I have recently found that my normal prescription was getting too strong for close in work like welding. I found that I was having a tendency to look over my glasses to see up close. I got the doc to set me up with a different prescription for close up work like machining or welding, and had a set of prescription safety glasses made to go with them. The set is still strong enough I can see to drive if needed as well. Just tell the doc what you need to do and he'll set you up. This is fairly standard for them..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Reply:What about a tinted face shield ??? That's what we use.
Reply:If there is one that would be perfect. Where do you get one? Are they made specifically for welding? i did not see one on cyberweld
Reply:+1 on the tinted faceshield. Any decent LWS should be able to get them. Also weldingsupply.com has them. Make sure to get the one with the 'Shade' rating, not just tinted.
