Ey y'all. Just picked up a 1972 Millermatic 200! I'm Pumped! Just looking for any suggestions on service I should perform to the Ol Girl before I start whippin wire!!!I was told it was working when last spooled up about 5 yrs ago. Slapped a fresh coat of smurf blue awn the case, and gave it a compressed air blow-out so far. The worst part of the deal is that I'm currently in remodel phase of the shop waiting on 100 amp service before I can even start to get my squirt awn!!!Since I've got some time I figured I would floss it up Thanks a heep!

Reply:That's what I'm thinking seeing as the first MM35 came on the scene in '71 and the 200 much later.MM200 w/Spoolmatic 1Syncrowave 180SDBobcat 225G Plus - LP/NGMUTT Suitcase WirefeederWC-1S/Spoolmatic 1HF-251D-1PakMaster 100XL '68 Red Face Code #6633 projectStar Jet 21-110Save Second Base!

Reply:Very clean MM200, congratulations.
Reply:The machine pictured is a generation 1 MM-200.It was built by Miller Electric, NOT the ITW lashup.Next generation circa 74 moved the selector switch and wire speed up on the machine and the gas connection inside the machine housing to eliminate energized parts outside of the housing.I'd be damn careful about blowing out contamination with high pressure air. Remember the machine was built with aluminum transformer windings fused to copper leads going to the switch. Those need to be looked at and possibly reinsulated. |
