Reply:good looking gate and shop...
Reply:Nice. What's the throat distance on that bandsaw?.No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan
Reply:It is beautiful.  Running those two top rails through a tubing roller, bisecting and inverting the tube, and doing it 4 times and having them all come out identical is no easy thing.  I think no one who has never done it can really appreciate how good your gate looks. What kind of finish are you going to do?Check out my channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkz...bZg8AYNXGqBjZQ"Both oligarch and tyrant mistrust the people, and therefore deprive them of arms." - Aristotle

I'll second that. It is easy to do, but very very hard to do and get perfectly flat and symmetrical. I struggle with it each time. Any tips and tricks on getting that just right would be awesome. Thanks,wRMiller TrailBlazer 301Miller 12rc feederMiller ShopmasterMiller 22a feederPlasmaCam CNC TableHypertherm 45 cutterDrills, saws, blast cabinets etc.

Reply:great looking job...how heavy are they?
Reply:Wait until you see the wood
Reply:Wood is in almost
Reply:Curious, how you going to keep the wood in place ? Will it be "floating" to account for expansion ?
Reply:There is a going to be a plate in the back. The wood is not carrying any structural load. It will also not be touching the buttom, in order to avoid end grain suck up. There will also be a 3/8 gap on each side, so it is floating. Also to allow for expansion and contraction. It is red oak was air dried for a year or so. The unfortunate part here is i welded the hinge attachments on the wrong side, got to cut them off and move them. Someone asked about the bandsaw it is 36 inch, 21'5 foot blade. Thanks for all the kind words.
Reply:While king sells it, it is easy cheeper, and safer to get it done with a local gate company who have been very supportive of my work, and have a giagantic roller.
Reply:Man very cool...please post a pic of the hinges...
Reply:I will today. What a paint in the *** it is to hang it.
Reply:To those that wanted to see the hinge, this is curtesy to Gainesville Iron works, its there design. Very cool Attached Images
Reply:I assume the 3/8" gap is along the width of the boards (along the sides, top to bottom).  Red oak is notorious for expansion and contraction, air dried or not.  It's life span outdoors is very limited.   White oak is a much better choice for outdoor use, and will last many times longer than red oak.  Redwood or cedar is better yet, but can be very expensive.JackJackFort Loramie, OhioMilermatic Autoset 180
Reply:We will see how it does. Good poly finish on it. We got it locally at a really good price so the value was there. We could have gotten it at a really good price so it was worth it.
Reply:I really like the hinges, great design.
Reply:This is the final product
