I had an old beer keg in the storage shed. My kid decided it needs to be a grill. He cut it in half bolted some hinges to it. He welded up a stand for it but did not weld them together. He told me that way he can just dump the ashes out. He wants to weld handles to it as well as a support for the rack. All we have at the moment is a stick welder. Any idea which stainless steel rod to use? The steel may be to thin but we are gonna give it a shot.
Reply:Don't know what kind of stainless they are made of but I would try a 3/32" 308L. Really any stainless electrode should work, its only a grill.Airco Ac/Dc 300 HeliwelderMillerMatic 200 (stolen)Miller Maxstar 150STLMiller AEAD200LE (welding and generating power) Hobart MIG
Reply:If you are mixing stainless and mild steel I would use 309
Reply:Thanks. Will regular old 60XX rods work? Its not a critical weld and the grill is geting painted anyway. I have 0 experence welding anything other than mild steel. Thanks again for the info.
