Hey guys this is my first post, and I'm glad to be here.I'm looking to purchase a new machine that will do the best at what I need it to do. I only wanna spend about 1,500-2,000 on a machine I really would like something that can Tig really good and still have great stick welding abilities. Im currently a student at my local welding school and am about to be on pipe so I would love for me to get even more pratice outside of school and get a head start on tig. So tell me some machines yall recomend using!

Reply:Thanks for all the replys guys, I have looked at all the machines yall have told me about, Ive slimmed my list of what I'm interested in. Miller cst 280, Thermal Arc 185 arcmaster, Miller Maxstar 200 DX, These are some of the top ones im looking into, My big things is I would like to get something new, cause that way I know I'm the only welder to touch the machine.I dont mind buying used machines just would rather newAMC724 - I'm loacted in Lake Charles, Louisiana. I saw your add in the dallas area craigslist, I really like the machine, I am interested it just I would have to wait for the week to end so my dad can come home from work ( works out of town) so I could talk to him about it and see what he thinks.Last edited by Cajun Welding; 10-10-2012 at 12:07 AM.

Reply:I'm running a seven year old Lincoln Squarewave 175.  It'll do stick too, but I just don't know how good it does with stick, and I've only struck a rod arc once in my life.  Its a good little machine.-AaronJet 17.5" Drill Press1942 South Bend 16x84 Lathe1980s Miller 320A / BP --- 2013 Power Mig 2562012 Jet 7x12 Horizontal BandsawVictor O/A Setup
