This past weekend my wife went to Mexico for a wedding.... so Ava and I had some Garage time together........I decide to clean up my extension cord situation..... one of which involved the overhead lightng in the garage.......I moved two of my lights to simply remove one set of extension cords..... and in the process..... destroyed one of my painted walls....... The GLUE which held my cord covers in place actually pulled the drywall off.... and my paint job....We spent the next couple days repairing the damage.... but things are much cleaner looking now.....Pic 1: An old photo that shows the hodgepodge wall with extension cords hidden by covers..... this was in December or so.....Pic 2 and 3: the destruction of the wall that happened when I removed the plastic cover things..... it tore all the way down to the drywall..... Ava was a champ as a helper during the whole thing.......Pic 4: The repaired wall with a fresh paint job..... same paint I used 2 years ago.... still in great shape... with no lumps...... (the white was a little off though)........Pic 5: The new light configuration on the ceiling using the spec mounted ceiling plug.....PICS...... Reply:Glad to see you have supervision. looks nice. I know you are cautious with her in the garage but I happened to notice that Ava is right around that roll a round table height. Those corners are gonna leave a mark if she wacks into it. Even at the wall it might not hurt to have some sponge or foam on it when not in use. Just being concerned. I know I would run into it.

Reply:Nice work, Fexal. What I did in my garage was to run a piece of condiut all the way around the walls of the garage with a quad box w/4 receptacles (2 pr, one, two three or four circuits each), every 5 ft. Advantage here is that there is always plenty of power right where I'm working (40 mps) and if necessary I run short extension cords when I need one. I ran 12 ga for 20 amp circiuts so that it never overloads. You could always divide the paired receptacle for 2 circuits in each receptacle, 4 circuits per quad box, you'll never run out of power. The beauty of conduit is that you can add additional pieces of wire for extra circutry even years after the conduit was installed, truly versatile. So where do you park your car(s) now that you have a decent home workshop?
