Me any my buddy don't understand how a DC generator works. We thought that all voltage is generated with AC and then rectified to DC. But that's not true with the lincoln's right?
Reply:Simply put:The genrated power is passed through a rectifier bridge consisting of DC- and DC+ diodes that separate the AC into DC power. Diodes only allow the AC in one direction + or -.

Reply:There are Alternators AC and there is Generators DC. Alternators can be rectified with diodes to create DC DC can be used with inverters to create AC
Reply:My question is how do you make DC without making AC first? Lincoln claims that they have a true DC generator. I'm very confused. I know my big 40 makes 3 phase ac then gets rectified to DC. But a pipeliner is different than that, right?

Reply:I just found this youtube video and it's helping me a great deal to visualize what's actually happening.[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpL0joqJmqY&feature=related[/ame]at around 16:00 they talk about shunt would generators that produce CC. Old videos are still the best demonstration.
