I know a lot of you guys have made homemade water coolers with no heat exchanger and a big water tank. Has anyone measured what the water temperature gets to in the tank after really pushing your welder? I am looking at a plastic tank that can hold water up to 120 degrees with a spike of 140 degrees. I would think it would be fine cause I have seen coolers made with a standard 5 gallon bucket. What do you guys think?kidtigger24 They think Im crazy, but I know better. It is not I who am crazy. It is I who am MAD!
Reply:I would use a metal tank, to improve the heat transferMauricio

Reply:Kidtigger,Look into a Cornelius keg for a tank. They're popular for homebewing, aren't too expensive new, and are Stainless steel. I have a ton, but haven't bought one in years, so I have no clue on pricing. A few years ago, I got em for $25 used. They should be all over eBay.Then you'll have zero concerns over plastic melting or Aluminum in the system that will erode from electrolysis. It was what I was gonna use until I stumbled upon a great deal on a commercial cooler.PM me if you're interested in one. Maybe I can dig up an old one that's no good for Homebrewtalk and we can make a deal.TA Arcmaster 300CM3XMT 304S22P12 suitcase feederX-Treme 12VSOptima pulserTA161SMaxstar 150STLHypertherm PM45OP setupStihl 020AVP, 039, 066 Magnum
