Reply:and new setup........its a 13 hp HF honda clone motor think it go's close to 35 mph though not confirmed. Attached Images
Reply:Very nice! I would love to try that in a few years when my boy gets a little older.
Reply:how much wider is the front than the back?nice build. deffinately one of those ones I want to do with my boys when they're old enough. 9 and 2 and not out yet just isn't going to work to well with one of those.I'd also like to know what size engine and what kind of speeds you're getting. There are no problems. Reply:Cymbilant, that is some good stuff you posted. I remember doing that with my son and some of his pals. That lead to oval racing and now we still go to watch sprint cars when schedules permit. Looking at your two boys' faces sitting in the unfinished project is priceless; I'm betting they had the seating area about half wore out before the paint went on!  Good on you, Dad!Bgbkwndo.
Reply:Cool.  The smiles on their faces are great to see.  The best laid schemes ... Gang oft agley ...
Reply:ThorshammerWell the front is wider than the back, the front has a 60" track and back is 55".........and that pick is somehow an optical illusion. It is a 13HP Harbor Freight Honda Clone engine..... we are going close to 35 mph. I plan on doing an IRS conversion with a 250 cc quad engine when they are around 15or 16 years old, if there's still interest. We have plans for a mini bike build......just bought a frame for 50 bucks that needs alot of work........someone hit a tree or wall with it as the forks are bent back. Have an over designed fix planed for that......well post picks when we get started on that. Also my boys were 10 years and 8 years old when we did the cart. It took 1 year to build as we bought parts a little at a time. Now they are 11 and 9 .Never to young to learn to have fun.Last edited by cymbilant; 05-25-2012 at 02:31 PM.

Reply:Well they learned a very valuably lessen for life. Wanting it doesnt make it happen, but in fact most of us have to save up and build it (cause we aren't made of money).Miller thunderbolt 250Decastar 135ERecovering tool-o-holic ESAB OAI have been interested or involved in Electrical, Fire Alarm, Auto, Marine, Welding, Electronics ETC to name a just a few. Reply:you are correct I do need to put seat belts in............been him hah en about them.
Reply:Glad I found this tread. I building the same spider cart right now. I am making a few changes to mine. Thank you posting this tread.
Reply:Cym,I agree, never to young to learn to have fun. Just gotta keep the 10 yr old focused, and the 3 yr old safe. He's a great little helper, but he wants to do EVERYTHING himself. I'm planning on getting the 10 yr old into the shop to start some welding this spring, but it's going to be difficult to get him to focus, and to actually want to do it. Gotta find the right project for him first. I've got a couple things in mind, but we'll see if he bites. He's all about video games and TV and getting him to work is harder than pulling teeth from a live, and awake crocodile. There are no problems. There are only solutions. They will be proud of Dad as well as to themselves that they were able to help build the cart.
Reply:That is cool as hell. Hope them boys know how lucky they are to have a dad like that.

Reply:What a great project.  Did you keep your jigs so you can make a few for all the people who will be wanting one? Do you have any photos of the jigs that you used for the front end?  You might want to make some replacement parts for the front end for the time when the boys get a bit too close to a tree.
