Hi all, don't have many from-the-beginning pics, but I hadn't found this place when I started this project.  Finally got some decent weather today, (almost hit 20!) and got to work on my arbor project.  Got the gates hung, and am just about ready to attach the pieces I plasma cut, then paint!  Here are a few pics... I know some of you have seen parts of it before.  The side with the bench and spider will be next to the home, on a gravel path, so vines will only be growing up the other side.  Got the gates hungI added a spring loaded, fold down bench (I bent the 1" pipe for the bench on my HF bar bender BTW... yes, there is a little kink, something you guys would notice, but most people won't. And down. Oh, the S is for the first letter of their last name. Reply:289 views and 0 comments? hmmmm.  If this piece is ugly, let me know, for reals.  I am just a beginner and will gladly accept criticism, so long as it is helpful.  I am currently pretty much stuck in a career that doesn't do for me what it used to, and one where I am consistently making less money each yr as my body ages.  I would like to do more steel work, and build a side business.  Put it this way... they say to do what you love.  Well, right now, a day at work seems to pass about as fast as molasses in winter, whereas a day in the shop passes in a blink.  So, I would really like to get better at this than I am.Check out my channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkz...bZg8AYNXGqBjZQ"Both oligarch and tyrant mistrust the people, and therefore deprive them of arms." - Aristotle
Reply:Heck I really like what you have already done, please make sure to post pictures of the finished product.Good luckGod blessGod speed     and Happy welding
Reply:I like the curved side and the back. The spider web and spider is interesting, but not what I'd want myself..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan
Reply:What you have built is not simple, takes thought, and attention to detail. Keep up the good work and keep posting.
Reply:Nice.  Really nice.(Retired) Professional firefighter, amateur everything else I try to do...Oh yeah:  Go Big Red!   (You know: one of the 12 members of the Big 10 cuz we left the 10 members of the Big 12...)
Reply:I like it, I find artistic and it looks well made. Lots of "lookers" don't comment though, don't let it bother you. If it's ugly or sh!tty made THEN you get all kinds of comments. Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.                                         -Cree Indian ProverbSA 200 LincolnVictor Torches
Reply:I like the whole idea and dont think it is ugly, 289 rubber neckers; so what as long as you are happy. I like the bench idea. Where will it be placed?
Reply:Not to sound like a downer, but I want criticism.  I really do.  I like compliments as wellBut I know I am not nearly as good a welder/fabricator as many here, and I want to be.  DSW, I really appreciate your input on the spider.  The more I look at it, the more I realize that this design feature, while having tons of appeal to some, is unappealing to others.  I need to be careful about where I add features like this.  The client has a Harley and a few tatts on their arm.... Spider time!  The client is a preacher.... no features like the spider Thanks all.  I should have this done soon, if it gets warm enough to paint it!Check out my channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkz...bZg8AYNXGqBjZQ"Both oligarch and tyrant mistrust the people, and therefore deprive them of arms." - Aristotle
Reply:Although I'm terrified of spiders, I really like your design. Really like the fold down bench. I may steal the bench idea for an arbor near my rose bushes.  Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk 2Hobart Stick mate LX AC/DCHarris O/A outfit

Reply:This is right up my ally! I love love the design! I love the detail and the uniqueness. I find my niche in one-of-a-kind furniture and items like this that have purpose. Fences, arbors, trellises are great places to exercise our artistic side. I am doing a coffee, microwave cart that will be a one-of-a-kind semi-artistic piece now. I love welding and fabricating and like many of my hobbies I'm glad I don't have to make a living doing it! Good work and keep it up! Reply:my wife wouldn't have that on our property ( has a "thing" for spiders and that is a big "MoFr").Miller thunderbolt 250Decastar 135ERecovering tool-o-holic ESAB OAI have been interested or involved in Electrical, Fire Alarm, Auto, Marine, Welding, Electronics ETC to name a just a few.
