This is my first time posting. long time reader. I start welding school in just a couple of days and haven't gotten a syllabus yet. I would love to know before hand what kind of equipment I should purchase before the class starts (helmets,goggles,gloves,etc..) Any information or tips and advice would be GEATLY appreciated. Thank y'all very much.
Reply:Have a good pair of boots and get some good socks. Stay away from clothing with synthetic materials. They tend to melt. Safety glasses, mig/stick gloves, tig glove, a good jacket. Helmet. Etc. best bet is get basics until you see the syllabus. Eventually you will want a grinder of your own. Start with the bare minimum and they you will see what you NEED. Half the stuff on my syllabus from school was unnecessary.- Christian M.C3 Welding & Fabrication - CNC Plasma Cutting-Mobile Welding-Custom welding and fabwww.c3welding.com
Reply:Thank you. Any specific brands you recommend?
Reply:I would skip the syllabus and get welding goodies. Add a cotton hat to the list already mentioned and for shoes, I prefer a smooth top toe. No exposed stitches where the sides meet the top of the foot part. Thread will burn with a hot spark especially doing stick. ALL COTTON is best for shirts too. Good luck ! |
