Saw this sitting at the scrapyard today.   Thought about taking one home for a paperweight....Thermal Arc  Power-Tech 10/270  stick welderLincoln buzz-boxPurox O/A setupNothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool
Reply:That would make a hell of a persuasion table, might need a bigger hammer though!Real welders know how to penetrate!(Equipment)Whatever can be used to beat my opponent into submission!
Reply:Nice ! What size are those ??  Looks like 10'' and 1 1/2'' thick ?  That might be heavy.
Reply:They are at least 2" thick.  I'm kicking myself for not asking details on themThermal Arc  Power-Tech 10/270  stick welderLincoln buzz-boxPurox O/A setupNothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool
Reply:Wonder if they would make a decent anvil ?
Reply:Great find!!A lot of aspiring newbie blacksmiths who cannot find, or those who cannot afford, a traditional anvil would love to have one of those.  Even though the tables would not be hardened steel, they would suffice in the short term.
Reply:too cumbersome for a paperweight. a doorstop maybe. i spliced lots of those size columns.i.u.o.e. # 15queens, ny and sunny fla

Reply:Looks like they were cut with magnegas, single pass. "The things that will destroy America are prosperity at any price, peace at any price, safety first instead of duty first, the love of soft living and the get rich quick theory of life." -Theodore Roosevelt

Reply:That looks like something I would like to have, even if I can't figure out a use for it!
Reply:Now we finally have proof magnegas works!! (I heard they use a 2% chuck Norris ball sweat additive to make it 38% faster!)Lol!Last edited by Dantheharleyman99; 08-13-2014 at 03:44 PM.Real welders know how to penetrate!(Equipment)Whatever can be used to beat my opponent into submission!

Reply:Doesn't take long to round up a million tons with beams that heavy.    Was by there again today so I measured the flange.   The flange is 5" thick and 18" wide.   I found a super jumbo heavy beam chart that lists a beam with those flange measurements as a W14x16x730.      For a sense of scale. The piece of wood in between the beams is a 4x4 not a 2x2. And yes, they were cut in a single passThermal Arc  Power-Tech 10/270  stick welderLincoln buzz-boxPurox O/A setupNothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool
