Nothing like using it until it don't work very good anymore...I just love this kind of repair...I don't think these guys know what GREASE is at all..Owner don't want a sleeve..He wants it welded..So welded it will be.I will weld all this back into shape and armed with my trusty die grinder and a 4" grinder I will get the pin to fit and all will be good without taking 3 hrs setting it up in the boring mill...The pin bores are still good..The thrust bushing ate it's way into the side of the piece so this SHOULD NOT be so difficult. We will see now won't we....I will start on this first thing Monday AM...I get all the fun jobs......zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:Tribology has always intrigued me, from halving to cut out hundreds of these pins because they were worn, to motor shafts trashed where the aluminum hub looked like new. The interacting forces of nature are but a supreme beast. Just how in the hell a bronze bushing can create that much damage in my mind has always been a freakin mystery, but it happens all day long.  No more lancing pins for me though! Until the next sap calls and says he can't afford a mere 2.99$ for grease!I forgot how to change this.

Reply:It's 4:45 AM Monday...Here we go!First thing I do is clean it up and grind off the crap from the wear with a flap disc..Then I proceed to build a 1/8" tall "Wall" around the I.D. where the pin goes..Then make a pass against the wall...NOW you take the die grinder and grind the ID so the plug fits..The plug is the same size as the pin so if the plug fits so will the pin..Grind until it fits then stop! Now put a pass on the outside..Next post.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Now make a pass down the middle..Now repeat the process..As we continue..Keep going in sequence until you reach the top then finish the welding..One more post.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Now using a grinder with a flap wheel..CAREFULLY grind and massage the piece until it's flat and ready to go..Now take into consideration this part never moved on the table and all welding was done standing up on one foot..3/32" Red end...045! 309 stainless filler..Machine on "Stun"..You don't want to kill it just build it back up.I get all the fun jobs.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a  dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:Shame to have to grind down pretty welds aint it? Reply:Originally Posted by zapsterNo not really..I did the other side last Thursday...Using 70S-2 (Same size) all it did was pop spit and splatter all over my tungsten and cup..Got way up inside and I had to smash the cup off the torch to get the collett assy out..Gummed up the threads pretty goodSo after changing out everything I switched to the stainless and poof! All was good allofasudden...I think there is a sleeve inside the bore and combined with whatever else was ground into the surface it did not like the mild steel at all..Stainless was the cure so go with what works right?...zap!
Reply:Awesome job and interesting - how much did that lesson cost me? Glad I'm too far away for you to collect!
