Greetings,My Nephew asked me to weld in a couple fittings to a beer keg that he uses for brewing his own suds. From all I can find on the web the keg shouild be 304 SS. The fittings are 304 SS as well. Are there any issues I may run into or he may have after the welding to make sure it is still "Food Grade"? This is for his personel use. He has been using the keg with compression fittings but could never get them to totally seal between the round keg and flat fittings he was supplied. I will be TIG welding them in and plan to use 304L rod. Does this sound correct? Or is there a better choice?ThanksmooseTimmetalcraft by mooseSoutheast Michiganhttps://www.facebook.com/Metalcraftbymoose Stupid Hurts!!

Reply:Use 308L filler, you may need to purge the inside around where the fitting will be welded to keep from sugaring.Airco Ac/Dc 300 HeliwelderMillerMatic 200 (stolen)Miller Maxstar 150STLMiller AEAD200LE (welding and generating power) Hobart MIG

I back purge with a separate argon supply with regulator. The inside should be welded too to be sanitary but that's hard to do. If its a boil kettle it won't matter tho.
