Looking to buy a welder, it will be used for mostly auto body work and frame work, nothing too thick. Ive been looking at the Hobart 140 mig welder. I would like something that runs on normal house current and something around $500-$600. Any feed back on this welder or other recommendations would be great thanks!
Reply:Hobart makes a great machine. I believe made on the same line as Miller these day, just with less features. You should step up to a 220V or dual voltage machine though. You never know when something thinks gonna come your way, and you probably are gonna want more output than any 120 volt unit will put out for frame work. Everyone seems to love the Miller 211 (?Hobart 210 MVP) as a small light duty dual voltage mig.

Reply:I was looking at the miller 140 and went with the miller 211 based on the MVP. It is a great unit and the fact I can weld since I haven't got 220 wired up yet is awesome. I know it is out of your price range but the Hobart 210mvp is a good machine based off they are both produced in the same building. I would save your pennies a little longer and go with the dual voltage machine.Using Tapatalk
Reply:I'm a huge Hobart fan. Having said that, I think body work is one of the few jobs requiring infinite adjusting voltage. I would get a used miller for that reason.Farmer2 |
