Now these are rather large mufflers..To me anyway..These are going on a offshore drilling rig and the customer supplied the "Print"..Here are the mufflers..Large opening!Customer supplied his own bracket parts but I had to weld them together..They were not bent to my spec but what the heck I am not going to rework anything today..Next post.....zap!I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Ok now according to the "Print" the bolt holes are 20" apart so 20" they shall be..Unfortunately.. I could not just flip them over and measure because the outlet had to be flat and square with the bottom..So I placed the muffler on top of the brackets then measured the bolt hole distance..Then using my level I got it square and flat..Then tacked them upside down..After that it was just another welding job..First pass..Next !...zap!Last edited by zapster; 03-06-2013 at 04:35 PM.I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.
Reply:Best looking blueprints I've seen! Nice work, as usual!
Reply:Second pass..Here they are all done..Funky looking inside..Besides the set up it was a fairly easy job but note..I "Guesstimated" where the welds were going and with a flapdisk removed all the galvy because I 'aint welding over that. One more thing to watch out for is welding thick brackets to the muffler shell could spell disaster if you burn thru the shell..So for this the welder was set to "Stun" once again and here is what the settings for stun are..Knob on 9 is "Kill"..3/32" Red...045 309 Stainless filler..Pedal....standing up... now I have another backache..Oh well somebody has to do it..I get all the fun jobs.....zap!Last edited by zapster; 03-06-2013 at 04:36 PM.I am not completely insane..Some parts are missing Professional Driver on a closed course....Do not attempt.Just because I'm a dumbass don't mean that you can be too.So DON'T try any of this **** l do at home.

Reply:Measuring out the holes reminds me of a trick I learned years ago. Sometimes it is hard to "eyeball" a hole to measure center to center. But if you measure from same side to same side, IF the holes are the same size, its much easier to read and dead on.Nice work as always zap. Reply:They are nice welds!I have to chuckle though because last week I just hung a muffler/silencer 12 feet over an engine with a 22 inch Inlet! We picked it up with a Tele-Handler, then telescoped it over the Engine!
