Just got my new bender and mounted it to a metal beam in my garage. I'll be able to move it to a trailer hitch if necessary. I'm still searching for some good downloadable info. Anybody know of a site? I've seen the links for videos (which I might do) but I'm wondering if there some good documentation somewhere. The HF manual is crap.

Reply:I have the bench-mount version of that bender (w/o the tall mounting post)I took two pieces of 3"x1/4 flat. One about 12" long, with 2 holes drilled in it, bolts to two opposing holes on the base. The other piece of flat is about 6" long, and is welded perpendicular to the flat of the first piece, long side to the mating piece. This I clamp in my bench vise. My bench vise is mounted on the end/outside corner of my big workbench (bench weighs maybe 500#, plus all the junk piled on it and is braced to the wall).Solid when in use, out of the way when not needed.
Reply:Be carefully with your mount. If you do any thick metal it will twist the frame. I am in a "temporary" shop until I move out of LA and I spoke with Shop Outfitters to see if it was OK for me to mount my bender on metal pallet, then to a forklift and they did not even go for that. My problem is the the cement in the warehouse blew through my $25 bit on the first hole so I gave up. |
