Hi all, Im shopping around for a bench grinder, under $100 or so, that has some good oomph! I had a 6" but didnt have any balls behind it and didnt work well on my stock.thanks for any ideasDustin
Reply:If the 6" didn't have enough power, I would say go to a 9" or look for one that has a higher HP motor. Check Northerntool.com for bench grinders.John -  fabricator extraordinaire, car nut!-  bleeding Miller blue! http://www.weldfabzone.com
Reply:Don't know what you're grinding, but I have a lite duty bench grinder. About all it does is sharpening tools and cleaning off rough edges. The heavy grinding is done w/ the disc grinders. If you don't already have one, maybe the $100 would be better spent on a good disc grinder.                                 MikeOl' Stonebreaker  "Experience is the name everyone gives to their mistakes"Hobart G-213 portableMiller 175 migMiller thunderbolt ac/dc stick Victor O/A setupMakita chop saw
Reply:Try to find a used Baldor.  It will be had to find one newer than 50 years old for less than $100, but the Baldors are built to last until the end of the world.
Reply:Thanks all for the suggestions. I have a hand grinder, but Im looking for something to do the edges, and the little 6" HF one I had SUCKED!
Reply:When I buy machine tools including grinders, I look for cast iron.  The good grinders have cast iron foundations, motor casings, and rests.  The cheapies are all fabricated out of sheet metal.
