Hello-Being a rookie I went and bought an ArcPRO 20704 auto darkening welding hood about a year ago. Now I need to replace the clear plastic lens covering inside and out and cannot find the same size replacement lens. I have talked to several welding supply houses and emailed ArcPRO's Main office to no avail. I'm now looking for large sheets that I can cut to the size I need. Can someone point me in the right direction to find either the correct size or cut-to-fit clear plastic sheets. The inside cover size is 2 3/16'' x 3 15/16'' (2.07'' x 3.78'') and the outside cover size is 4 3/4'' x 5 7/16''. (Or should I just go buy a name brand helmet?)
Reply:Well, I don't own one of these, but if you look up that model on Amazon, one of the answered questions is that the outside cover is a KH619, which is readily available.http://www.amazon.com/What-lens-cove...sin=B005SI5VI0The lenses are made of polycarbonate, but I would not suggest cutting and replacing them yourself.  If you happen to use the wrong type of plastic, you may end up with something dangerous.
Reply:As a LAST resort, you can cut down slightly larger ones to fit but you must use a very fine blade and saw it to size DO NOT try to cut this material with tin snips because it will shatter along the line and be wasted. I know, because I tried it.
Reply:I found a Chinese "linkie" for ARCPRO.http://www.arcprowelding.com/_d1479.htmDrop them an e-mail and see if they have a stateside distributor; if not, they may sell you some covers directly.    I have done business with Chinese companies and have never had any problems.   This is what credit cards are good for.  Whats in your wallet???
Reply:Hi-Went to the website as you suggested; They have 5 or 6 different screens one of which was ''support'' which told me about how good there support was but no place to get any. The same for their products but again no place to buy any. The only contact choices was a telephone number in China and a email address which I have already sent 2 emails to and been ignored both times. I was real enthused with the info you found (and I hadn't found) but it turned out to be a bust. More and more I'm thinking I bought the wrong brand.

Reply:Measure your lens in millimeters....
Reply:They're made of polycarbonate (trade name Lexan).  Picture frame shops should be able to cut you a piece.
Reply:shouldn't the lens be UV resistant? uv tends to make polycarbonate cloudy and brittle. mcmaster-carr has sheets of uv-resist polycarbonate.
Reply:A year without changing clears?, I usually change mIne out atleast once a week, I've had jobs where I've got to change them out daily
