razor welding, and thought I could get some pointers.  Dagone bead looks awful.Aluminum cans are out of the question for me, I just blow holes even on the lowest of low settings (even on the bottom and the tabs).. Reply:The only way I even got the aluminum can to stick was arc off on the table then move to the aluminum otherwise when I arced off I just blew a huge hole.  Then I'd look around to see if anyone was watching  I think our tig has issues anyway DewayneDixieland WeldingMM350PLincoln 100Some torchesOther misc. tools

Reply:What's the lowest amperage your TIG can run?Use the smallest tungsten you can get 0.040" or 1/16" very sharp.Tightly clamp the butting edges, or zap a tiny tack at each end, any gap will kill you.Keep the arc gap as tight as possible, by machine welding I would set the gap at 0.030", by hand shoot for no more than 1/16".Were you trying to add filler?, you should be able to just fuse the edges without filler.Get a melt and move fast, looks like you dumped alot of extra heat into this weld, maybe moving too slow, too long an arc lenght, not a tight joint fitup?
