does anyone have the shop outfitters manual?I bought a HF scroll bender and i cant figure it out.
Reply:I don't have a manual but if you go to Shop Outfitters website, they have video's of their equipment in action which should help quite a bit.
Reply:yeah i've seen that,i'm trying to figure out how long the metal has to be to do some of the bends???I guess i need to play with it more but i hate just wasting metal...thanks
Reply:Take one lond piece of metal, similar to what you will be binding. On the metal, draw tick marks every 1", 2" or whatever you choose. Now as you scroll it, you will be able to count the number of segments that wrapped around the bender. Thus, the segment correspond to the length of the metal needed. Keep the metal as a reference.
Reply:I did as tapwelder said bent some metal with some different sized scrolls and hung them on the wall with the lengths of the metal i started with plus the corresponding scroll sizes maked on it also. Then when i was figuring a project i knew how much metal it took to make the scroll on the pattern and just added the straight between as it was the only measurement that changes because the scrolls stayed the same. I also wrote all my measurements down on cards that i kept in an old time card rack for future use.
