Weld both sides?

Do you weld both sides when possible?  So if you are making a rectangle frame out of angle with miter corners, should you tack, weld one side, cool the part, then weld opposite side of same seam?  Or should penetration be so good that it can't be improved and likely made worse?
Reply:Yes.I tack inside of each corner, weld from outside of each corner, flip and weld each corner from inside.I sometimes only weld one side if, say, 1/8" angle welded hot but this is where I see the most deformation.Just my methods and they are far from perfect as I don't do this every day.GravelThe difference between theory and practice is that in theory there is no difference.
Reply:Not always. If it's something structural, then yes weld both sides. Sometimes, if a weld will be in the way or if it's unneeded, then it'd be unnecessary to weld both sides because of time and cost.-Hillbilly
