This car belongs to a friend of mine's brother in law. He runs it in the Texas mile and got it up to 253 at the 2012 Texas Mile.He upgraded the cage this year and added another 1,000 hp to try to get to 265 mph.The front spoiler came off at 240 resulting in an end over end ride. The driver was air lifted to the Corpus Christi hospital and treated and released. He is ok.Here is the before and after: Attached Images
Reply:Holy smokes! Glad he's ok!!!
Reply:Well that's not going to just buff out!   .No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we'll ever see on this earth! Ronald Reagan
Reply:Wow.Yeah, that cage sure saved him.Wow.  The best laid schemes ... Gang oft agley ...
Reply:see, those harbor freight  110 migs really work good...loooolOf all the things I lost I miss my mind the most...I know just enough about everything to be dangerous......You cant cure stupid..only kill it...
Reply:I was just there this weekend when it happened.  Always a scary moment when a vehicle starts tumbling. On a lighter note, that picture caught my friend's 2011 Mustang GT (green arrow) in that first pic.He just ran a new personal best of 180mph naturally aspirated.  Fastest naturally aspirated 2011+ Mustang GT 5.0 at the Texas Mile by far.  Even the Boss302s are green with envy.  Hell, a 2013 Shelby Mustang Cobra with 600+ HP with nitrous only ran 177.x mph, lol.  I haven't checked, but it's likely the fastest naturally aspirated Mustang there, period. 1st on WeldingWeb to have a scrolling sig! Reply:I recently watched a video of this car doing 360's at something like 220 mph. I couldn't imagine doing endo's at that speed. Reply:There goes $40,000 bucks....think of all the welding stuff he could of had.......
Reply:Wow, glad he's OK!  I apparently know very little about going that fast, but I find it amazing that the car needed an additional 1k HP to get from 253 to 265 MPH!!
Reply:Not sure exactly how all it works but my understanding is the faster you go the greater the force needed to overcome the wind resistance road friction ect.  At that speeds its tremendous.  "Arrow" dianamics plays a huge role in this the more arrow dianamic the lower the wind resistance.  But regaurdless at the Texas mile you have one mile to go as fast as you can. At 200+ miles an hour 1 mile goes by real quick.  So crap loads of power is needed to squeeze a few extra mph in just a few seconds. If you had a longer distance enough fuel and ideal conditions you would not need a grand but you would need a whole lot of road. Glad he is ok.  The power of steel and someone who really knows how to manipulate it is amazing.
