I recently installed (November 2012) a sculpture entitled "Icarus Wings" at the Aeropropulsion, Mechatronics, and Energy building at Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL.This project took over a year start to finish. It was designed and redesigned. The actual build took about 6 months and it was done completely after hours (I work 9-5 for FSU on top of building sculptures).I finally finished compiling the video that documents the entire process. I had a go pro mounted in my studio during the build. There were over 12000 pictures taken, processed at 60 frames a second. Each second in the video is one hour in real life. There are over 1500 welds and 70lbs of welding wire in the entire thing. Each wing weighs close to 900lbs.Let me know what you think! I will try to answer any questions I can. If you skim through the pictures at the links below you can figure out a lot about my process.Finished Pictures:http://noahzbrock.com/sculpture/icarus-wings/https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...3832224&type=3Building the model: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...3832224&type=3Building the sculpture: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...3832224&type=3Installing the sculpture: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?...3832224&type=3Last edited by nzbrock; 03-26-2013 at 08:00 PM.nzbsculpture.comwww.facebook.com/NZBSculpt

Reply:Originally Posted by nzbrockI use Rhino3d with paneling tools and grasshopper plug ins. I actually generated the exploding animation using grasshopper.I was able to generate all of the cut files for the plates to be waterjet. I also was able to unroll the surface of each pipe section and laser cut paper templates so I could get my cuts exact.
