Hello again, So again probably another simple answer, but I can't figure it out. I got this big 40 miller that is an AWSOME welder, but it lacks certain things. It is a no frills model. I find myself needing to install a 240 volt receptacle on it. So I looked through my owners manual and not only is there a wiring diagram, but also instructions to install it. But, I only will have 30 amps max to the receptacle. So here is my questions. Can I use a small welder and a decent air compressor etc. on 30 amps? Is there any way for me to make it a 50 amp receptacle? How do I install a circuit breaker so that if I do overload the system I don't kill my welder? I am looking at the new bobcat machines and it has exactly what I'm talking about, a 50 amp receptacle with a circuit breaker right under it. I just don't know how to make something like that work.I appreciate the help all in advance,-jordan
Reply:Air compressor will depend on the size and other factors. The welder should be fine if you dont start to push it past its 30a draw load (depending on what you are welding/settings, etc)If your panel is rated for 30a and you have circuit breakers in it, they will kick off once you pass that amp load limit.

Reply:Are you sure your machine is set up to have aux power? A lot of those no frills machines never had the aux power windings. The wiring diagram may be for those units with the optional aux power kits factory installed..No government ever voluntarily reduces itself in size. Reply:Yup it has got the extra windings and all that stuff it is just a matter of getting the extras installed. At this point I'm going to install it but not have real high expectations. |
