I always wanted something to help holding small tubing for exhaust projects, and I didn't want to buy one, but rather make one---just for the hell of it. 1st on WeldingWeb to have a scrolling sig! Reply:Good idea!  I have been wanting something for holding pipe together for years now. I didn't want to pay the price for those special super nice but expensive ones. I like this one! Thanks for posting!
Reply:Here are some more shots.  The nice thing about this, is that it can be scaled up to as large as you may like by increasing the sizes appropriately.  This was done with "1/4" hardware, 3/4" square tubing sliced down the middle for the little saddles, 1/8" thick 1/2"wide flat bar.  Total cost about $10 because I had to buy the 3ft flat bar, nuts, lock washers, small metal sleeves, bolts at a local hardware store.  If you have this stuff already or similarly sized materials your cost can end up $0 lol.As you can see, I tacked the bolt that holds the C-arm to the metal sleeve at different positions for each sleeve.  This is so that they are more or less "in-line" with each other, due to one of the V-hinge's leg in front of the other one since they overlap at the bottom wing nut joint.  To make sure I could get tubes perfectly in-line with each other, the hole in the tube "saddle" that the bolt passes through, is drilled out larger than the 1/4" bolt that goes through it--this is to allow for wiggle-room.Last edited by Oscar; 04-10-2013 at 12:51 AM. 1st on WeldingWeb to have a scrolling sig!
