Well yesterday I had to break down and lease an oxygen tank. 5 year lease was $175 on a #4 bottle (i think). It's around 4' tall, whatever that is. He told me it would be $10 for the refills for the oxygen and around $22 for the acetylene I've been getting raped from the other suppier. I paid over $60 for 2 oxygen bottles and 1 acetylene. I'm glad they went out of business. So now I have 3 smooth neck bottles that no one will fill. Any good uses for useless tanks?DewayneDixieland WeldingMM350PLincoln 100Some torchesOther misc. tools
Reply:mailbox post??? haha That's about what I have been paying $10 for a full size oxy bottle, and 18.00 for acetylene. Always sux when ya find out that someone has been running ya over the coals. I had that problem a while back with my bottles but luckily I found a supplier that swapped me his bottles for mine, and lets me keep them on a lifetime lease free of charge. Good luckI'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......

Reply:gnm, WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I know why you guys on the west coast are charging so much more than us.... I keep hearing bad things about airgas on this forum, but that's who I do business with, and the reason was because they gave a better price on everything, and they really look after the clients "here". If i need a machine if I look around and find anyone who will beat their price, even the internet sales, they will match it. ( with that said I have never had anyone beat their price on a machine) However, I will say that it depends solely on the store..... I live in a rural area and have an airgas about 45 minutes on either side of me. The one I do business with is GREAT, but I would not touch the other one if It meant going out of business. I guess I just happen to be luck enough to find a good store. ~Jacksonafter rereading your post, it could be the reason your refills are so high is they are figuring your lease into it?? Don't know but I would have a fit if I had to pay that much for a bottle of OXY.Last edited by Hammack_Welding; 05-09-2007 at 11:26 AM.I'm a Lover, Fighter, Wild horse Rider, and a pretty good welding man......

Reply:It cost me $80 to get a 280 cuft acetylene cylinder filled 2 years ago when aceylene was cheap. I believe the supplier was Airgas.

Reply:I pay $18 for 30# of Propane, $43 for 30# of MAPP/Propylene, $19 for 300CF of O2, $65 for 300CF Argon and $72 for 300CF of 75/25. It is $45 a year for the O2 and Gas cylinders and I own the Propane and MAPP.Disclaimer; "I am just an a$$hole welder, don't take it personally ." |
