I have done a little searching and have found some info on the invertig 201, but not much about the 221.  Just wondering if anyone has any experience with them or any feedback on them.  I'm sure most will say buy a miller, lincoln etc. but I am just looking at my options here.  I will be buying a tig in 3 weeks and want to start my research now.  My LWS seems ignorant to anything beyond what a brochure has but they do have a decent price on machines.  Right now, I am leaning towards the Syncro 200 or the PrecisionTig 225.  Although the HTP might be a couple hundy more, it seems an inverter style might be the way to go.  I haven't heard much negative on HTP, other than they are foreign, so if that is all you have to add here, save it; I've heard and read it plenty.  Of course that will play a factor in my final choice, but I don't need to be reminded. Thanks in advance for any input.  Greatly appreciated.
Reply:I have read good things about them. It went to #1 on my tig wish list (formally the Lincoln PT 225). Still saving up myself. I wish they have 110/220 standard instead of paying 500.00 more. To me it wouldnt be worth the extra cash. My PM30 plasma cutter has it. Its nice if I ever need it but never use 110.
Reply:FWIW, I have a 201 and like it.  Never had a problem.  If I had to replace mine, I'd go with HTP again.- "If ya can't be handsome, ya may as well be handy!"   HTP Invertig 201Lincoln Power Mig 255CLincoln SP125+Thermal Dynamics Cutmaster 38
Reply:Ya, having the 110/220 option might be nice, but something I don't understand is the actual portability idea.  They make the machine small and 110 capable to say you can take in anywhere, but you still have to drag a tank around for the gas, so that doesn't seem very portable to me.  Appreciate the feedback, anybody have any other input??
Reply:No i don't have any hands on expereince with HTP..but anywhere i've read and talked to anyone who has an HTP machine for several years is more than satisfied with them. They're made in Italy and some of them made in Hungary with German parts, and their customer service with them has been said all over they are phenomonal..I am also going to buy a their Invertig 221 after the holidays while i'm workin a 3 month refuel outage at a nuke plant on 7 12's.As you.the only negative i've ever heard from anyone is they are foreign made from people who have never even seen them in person, let alone use them, but never any actual negative at all from the actual owners/users of any of them.Even the big 3 uses foreign manufacturing in thier electronics anymore among other things...i would LOVE to see 1 use 100% american made products..it just isn't so anymore .Just for an FYI..when the Miller Elite helmets came out..i bought 1 "thinking" i was buying a 100% american made product..to only find out afterwards the the lens is made in korea...that was a real kick in the *** to me...i wonder how many of the circuit bourds and electronics in all the machines now a days are truely made in america buy so called american companies?Lincoln Ranger 8 225Lincoln 180 ProMigMiller Maxstar 200DXInternational Ironworkers Local 70930+ years and counting
Reply:Ya, I'm trying to be objective and not over defend it just because it is foreign, but as you said, I have not really heard any negative about it.  I think I might pull the trigger and get one after the new year.  I just wish I was worth a dang with a tig so I could give some real feedback on it after I get it.
Reply:Everything that I have read about the htp 201 221 on this site by folks who have them or have used them seems to be positive.   If budget allows, an inverter is the way to go.    There are lots of quality machines besides lincoln and miller.    Thermal arc, ESAB (one of my favorites).Tiger Sales:  AHP Distributor    www.tigersalesco.comAHP200x; AHP 160ST; MM350P,  Spoolmatic 30A; Everlast PowerTig 185; Thermal Dynamics 60i plasma.  For Sale:  Cobra Mig 250 w/ Push-pull gun.  Lincoln Wirematic 250
Reply:I have a 201 that almost 3 years old now.  Never had a problem with it.  Hobby use only.  One of the drivers for me was power availability in the garage.  That Syncro or the PT are going to require a 50-60 amp service.  I didn't have any room left in the panel, plus I rent, so I run the 201 off of the dryer circuit.  I am sure the 221 would work as well on a 30 amp service but might be limited on the top end (I doubt it though).Rene

Reply:Bump lol.I am also interested in hearing from those (any) users that have purchased products from HTP. It is very difficult to find any (ANY) negative input about their products. How do you know the blacksmith's dog? When you hollar at him he makes a bolt for the door!

Reply:I have a htp 110 mig. I got it in late 80s. Maybe best tool I have ever bought.
Reply:Well, I placed my order and it should ship out Jan 15.  Now the anticipation begins.  Is it bad that my wife's b-day is Jan 11 and my "tool present" is gonna be way better than her b-day present??  I guess I better think this through before I'm sleeping with my new tig...
Reply:Just bought the DV model myself during their Thanksgiving sale, and am getting it set up and am figuring out what I'm doing now.For 230V, Max drawn amperage is under 40A for Tig (At 220A).  I think 43A or 44A for stick.  Can't remember for 115, but I can check later if anyone's interested.  I am running off of a 50A 230V circuit right now...
Reply:Keep us posted guys. I am almost have enough saved myself. I have to start rolling my change up maybe this week. I have a lot of change. I wish I could find a bank that had a free coin sorter. I would open an account just for that alone. What config did you guys get? Im thinking about the water cooled torch with the 25' upgrade. Also the ground extender.I have a 20' spool gun an like the reach a lot more than my 10 mig whip.
Reply:I got the dual voltage model, standard length torches.  It's not very clear from their site, but you can add a water cooler to a DV model, but you need to make sure it's disconnected if you ever run in 115V mode.  I might add a water cooler at some point. The one thing I don't like about the DV model - to switch back and forth between 230V and 115V you need to swap plugs.  I'll make myself an adapter at some point, for now I'm only running 230.It comes with a foot pedal, but you could substitute a hand control instead for a small fee, or get both, but costs I think $180 extra to get both hand control and foot pedal (Don't quote me on that).Ordered a gas lens / pyrex cup kit to try it out, and ordered some tungsten and filler rod while I was at it.Now I need to get some TIG practice, pick up some tubing, and build myself a cart...HTP Invertig 221 DVLincoln Electric 120V Mig
Reply:I just got the single votage model as I don't think I will ever need the 115v option.  I was going to get the longer 25ft cables, but decided against it after talking with HTP.  I don't really have a need for the longer cables, I just thought it would be convenient at times.  I also ordered the pyrex cup kit as well as the regular cup kit, and some filler to get me started.  I can't wait for it to get here; I just started a project and would rather tig vs mig which is what I was planning to do.  Of course, I know I will need hours upon hours of practice before I can even think about laying a decent bead, so maybe I should just mig it and get it done.  We'll see I guess...
Reply:Thanks Brendan, I probably don't see me ever needing 110. I think that is more for the pros where they go to customer sites where they might not have a 220 handy. It would be a nice to have just not worth it for me to pay the premium. You have to let me know how hot the torch gets? Also, does it come with a stick welding attachment?
Reply:The stick welding electrode holder isn't included - I think it's an extra $50.  I didn't order one because I'm TIG only at this point.I haven't used it yet, but the bad part about 115V is that you need to restrict welding amperage when using normal residential breakers.  I think there's roughly a ~70A max welding output if you're using a 20A 115V breaker.HTP Invertig 221 DVLincoln Electric 120V Mig
Reply:Well, I'm new to the site and this is my first post. After reading just about every posting about HTP and the 221, I pulled the trigger today.  Great people to work with, very responsive to emails.  Although the "Father's Day" sale has ended, they put a package together with everything except the helmet (have a new Miller Viking anyway).  Purchase the 221 + cooler in 220V configuration.  Thanks Diana! Thanks to all who have given their time and experience.Don
Reply:Ordered our 221 water cooled unit today from Diana. She threw in some free filler rod and tungsten. Reply:I bought the 221 dual voltage about 6 months ago. My only complaint is the owners manual is lacking a bit. As usual customer service is fantastic. The machine welds wonderfully. I really wanted a dynasty but decided to try something else. I don't have one complaint about it. Both stick and Tig modes work very well. One thing that I either missed or is not in the manual is that when you're using the machine in stick mode you have to disconnect the pedal or you get no output amperage. Overall I'm totally satisfied with the machine, the customer service and HTP in general.
Reply:got mine all hooked up and working this last week   did some small projects and it works great  every bit as good as the dynasty at school,,, only  with steel so far   will do some aluminum this weekend and will post,,,i really like the footpedal its real wide and smooth
Reply:Definitely interested in feedback and pics from this machine.  Very interested in buying one.
Reply:I want one as well, but just can't justify buying one since I don't need it.  I just like cool toys, lol.
