Welding Disciplines

How many diffrent welding Disciplines are there and how do you choose which  one you want to prosue or do they teach you all welding Disciplines  in school??

Reply:When I went to school, it was just to take an elective for college. I had an oxy/acet at home and wanted to expand my techniques. Glad I did. Switched my major to Welding technology and did a year in a prison cell(stick arc booth), and another 6 months in inert gas(tig as mig was perpetually broken).What stuck with me is oxy/acet.  I cut, bend, and braze with it. Taught me to handle a torch and feed rod for tig welding.
