Hey, all,I'm trying to make a spotting scope stand, and the scope-adjusting mechanism through which the vertical tube passes has a critical dimension (the vertical tube that passes through it cannot be larger than about 1.020" diameter).I've searched around ebay and elsewhere, but most of the pipe and tubing I find does not have an OD of 1.00" ± .010". Most of it is too big.Can anyone tell me where to find this? I know it must be available, because the SS vertical tube on the commercial stands I've seen (which are WAY too expensive) are all almost exactly 1.00" diameter, and I know darn well nobody is turning it on a lathe to get it right!TIA.
Reply:McMaster will sell you a piece of 1" Tube a foot long for $15, OD tolerance says +/- .005"http://www.mcmaster.com/#standard-st...tubing/=txmwq3Experience is something you get right after you need it

Reply:Thanks for all the replies. I think I may have found a source -- Metals Depot. I spoke to the gal there and she said the tolerance on the 1" OD tubing would be +/- .003" up to .015"I think that may work.I appreciate the help. |
