My buddys neighbor had a 40 foot length of 6 inch pipe he wanted gone,so I decided id cut it into 4 ten foot lengths. I showed up with my rage cold saw and it barely scratched it,I think I wiped out the blade...I ended up cutting it with a cut off wheel in my skill saw...Im thinking about using for a lean too or maybe to hang some pretty hefty gates at my entry, can I mig or stick weld brackets to it? Is there a procedure as far as say preheat the area? Reply:Well it was not hardened as you stated I was pipe. Your blade probably just wore out.If you are worried about welding it, a proper preheat would do.Any markings on the pipe?Weld like a "WELDOR", not a wel-"DERR" MillerDynasty700DX,Dynasty350DX4ea,Dynasty200DX,Li ncolnSW200-2ea.,MillerMatic350P,MillerMatic200w/spoolgun,MKCobraMig260,Lincoln SP-170T,PlasmaCam/Hypertherm1250,HFProTig2ea,MigMax1ea.

Reply:I have only played around with hardened steel a little. Welded ok but hard as hell on drill bits. If you want to know if its hardened, just take a good sharp bit and try to drill a hole, you will know for sure after that. You dont see too much tube that is hardened but like you said, it may have been for a special purpose.Hobart Handler 210 with SpoolgunHypertherm PM30 PlasmaHTP 221 Tig WelderHF BandsawHF Auto Dark Helmet
