Hello all, Got a question if i may. Ive got a Regency 250 PS and a Ex-treme 8vs feeder. And just by chance i noticed while looking through the owners manuals on the cover pages it says what processes that the unit is capable of, Well on the Regency's manual it only has GMAW and on the feeders it says both GMAW and FCAW. So my question is , Should i not switch the polarity on the Regency? Is it only for GMAW? Thanks .
Reply:Far as I know any machine capable of GMAW will run flux core. You may need to change to serrated drive rolls. The majority of flux core self shielded wires run on DCEN. Reply:That's what i was thinking but i wasn't 100% sure after seeing the print on the manual, and as far as i can see there is no mention of polarity or flux core wire in the rest of the Regency's manual or the sales brochure .And I'm not trying to blow anything up inside the power supply, the suitcase feeder or myself for that matter..
Reply:The regency 250 is a power supply only. It does not have a polarity switch.Polarity is set by how the leads are connected. It is a CV welder and doesn't care if you weld with or with out gas and what polarity.The wire feeder is set up for the type of wire used. Polarity connection and gas use.
Reply:Thats all correct. And im aware of everything you say, I didnt mean that there was a switch on the Regency that could throw. I just ment reversing the leads. |
